The story
Blegdamsvej 36 in Copenhagen's Nørrebro district carries real restaurant history. For 45 years it was home to "Da Nino og Franco," an Italian institution that became a neighbourhood legend. When that chapter closed, the space sat quietly — until chef Jonas Franck decided he couldn't stay out of the kitchen.
Franck, previously known from Cleo and Frank, came back as co-owner and head chef, and the result is Bar Moro: a room that White Guide 2026 describes as menneskefyldt — full of people — which says everything about the atmosphere. The renovation leans deliberately rustic, preserving a worn, lived-in character that feels earned rather than designed.
The menu is built around vegetarian and pescatarian dishes, giving the kitchen room to work with produce and seafood without overextending. Guests with allergies or sensitivities to specific ingredients are asked to let staff know, and the team works to accommodate them. Vegan requests, however, are not something the kitchen is currently set up to handle.
A thoughtfully composed wine list sits alongside the food menu, and the bar dimension of Bar Moro is genuine — this is a place where you can eat well or simply drink well, or do both without feeling rushed.
White Guide's 2026 "Very Fine Level" recognition places Bar Moro firmly among Copenhagen's noteworthy addresses, a meaningful stamp for a restaurant that has only recently opened. The award acknowledges both Franck's pedigree and the energy the team has brought back to a corner of the city that went without a proper local restaurant for too long.
Bar Moro is open Monday through Saturday from 17:15, and is well suited for private dining and events in addition to regular evening service.
