The story
The story behind Antinoo's begins with a coin. During the restoration of Palazzo Genovese in Venice's Dorsoduro district, workers uncovered an ancient coin in the courtyard well bearing the face of Antinous — a young Greek from Bithynia, beloved companion of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. That discovery gave the restaurant its name, and with it a sense of layered meaning: the fascination of ancient Greece, the weight of the Roman Empire, and the myth of eternal love, all folded into a dining room on the Grand Canal.
Guests choose between two distinctly decorated dining rooms — one red, one white — both with direct views over the Grand Canal. The atmosphere is modern and refined without being cold, the kind of space where the water outside does much of the work.
The menu draws from Venetian culinary tradition, interpreted by chef Giancarlo Bellino. His cooking carries occasional echoes of his native Puglia — a warmth and inventiveness that sits comfortably alongside the discipline of classic Venetian cuisine. The result is a kitchen that feels rooted in place while remaining personal.
That combination has earned the restaurant consistent recognition from Italy's most respected guides. Antinoo's holds two forks from the Gambero Rosso, appears in the Michelin Guide 2023, and has been awarded two caps by the Guida dell'Espresso — a rare alignment of major national and international critical attention for a Venetian restaurant.
Antinoo's sits within the Sina Centurion Palace, part of the Sina Hotels group — a collection with over 65 years of history and the status of a recognised Italian Historic Brand. The hotel also operates Bar Antinoo alongside the restaurant, and the full dining offer extends to events, private parties, and banqueting in the Sala Canal Grande.
For anyone looking to eat well in Venice, Antinoo's offers something specific: Venetian cooking with a clear identity, a setting that earns its views, and the kind of recognition that comes from sustained quality rather than novelty.
