Mielcke & Hurtigkarl

A historic orange house in Frederiksberg Garden, home to the Metamorphoses menu and White Guide Masters recognition. Fine dining at its most considered.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Garden Setting Unlike Any Other

Inside Frederiksberg Garden, just beyond the wide garden path leading to an orange-colored house with large white-framed windows, Mielcke & Hurtigkarl has made its home. The White Guide describes it as "a historic and inviting gastronomic refuge in the middle of the capital's hustle and bustle" — a description that feels entirely earned. The aristocratic dining room, adorned with nature motifs and furnished with generous round tables, sets the tone before a single dish arrives.

The restaurant has earned White Guide's Masters level recognition, its highest tier, with reviewers singling out the full experience menu — called Metamorphoses — as the heart of what the kitchen offers. The name carries weight: the evening is designed to be transformative, and the reception that greets guests is warm enough to support that ambition without feeling theatrical.

The Metamorphoses Menu

Metamorphoses is the grand menu, served in full as the restaurant's flagship experience. It is also the foundation around which Mielcke & Hurtigkarl builds its acclaimed winemaker dinners — bespoke versions of the menu are crafted to accompany rare and prestigious bottles, from Bollinger's La Grande Année vintages to single-vineyard Californian Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from producers like Gavin Chanin. That the kitchen can adapt its fine dining menu to serve as the ideal backdrop for world-premiere champagne releases speaks to its range and confidence.

Beyond the Dining Room

The restaurant's programming extends well beyond the table. Private dining rooms, event spaces, and a capacity for banquets and parties make it one of Copenhagen's more versatile fine dining addresses. A "Music in the Garden Society" series and regular winemaker evenings bring a cultural dimension to the venue — guests return not just for the food, but for the full experience of the place.

What remains constant is the setting: a landmark building in one of the city's most beautiful green spaces, a kitchen operating at Masters level, and an approach to fine dining that earns its reputation without needing to announce it.

White Guide — Masters level

Frederiksberg Garden has always been a wonderful place to visit. But the joy feels naturally greater this time, as we walk up the wide garden path toward the orange‑colored house with its large, white‑framed windows, where Mielcke and Hurtigkarl have taken up residence. A historic and inviting gastronomic refuge in the middle of the capital’s hustle and bustle. Inside the large, aristocratic, nature‑adorned room we are seated at one of the big round tables and choose the full experience with the Metamorphoses menu. A title that, together with a pleasant reception, supports the built‑up expectations. We are ready for a “transformative” evening.
