Gastromé

Gastromé brings over a decade of Michelin-starred cooking to a beautiful patrician villa in Risskov, Aarhus — elegant, intimate, and seriously delicious.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Michelin Star with Deep Aarhus Roots

The name says it all: Gastromé is a blend of gastronomi and renommé — gastronomy and reputation — and the restaurant has spent more than a decade making good on that promise. Holding a Michelin star for over ten years, it has established itself as one of the most serious fine dining addresses in Denmark, drawing food lovers not just from Aarhus but from across the world.

The restaurant is now settled in a handsome white patrician villa in Risskov, a quiet residential district just north of the city center. The White Guide, which awarded Gastromé its prestigious Masters level recognition in 2026, captures the setting well: "elegant, cozy, and delightfully tasty" — a place that has genuinely found its footing away from the urban bustle, rather than being diminished by it.

The Kitchen's Philosophy

At Gastromé, the kitchen is built on two pillars: the finest local, seasonal Danish produce and the broader European culinary tradition. Neither is treated as dogma. The team describes their approach as respectful of nature and tradition — but not so reverential that surprises are off the table. Ideas, they say, can come from any direction: north, south, or from experiments in what they call the "laboratory," where signature dishes are born.

The commitment runs all the way back through the supply chain. The farmers and producers who share the restaurant's passion for doing things properly are also, not coincidentally, the ones delivering ingredients with the concentration of flavour that fine dining demands. Every element — sourcing, preparation, room acoustics, aesthetic detail — is treated as part of a single, coherent experience.

The Setting and the Atmosphere

The patrician villa brings something that a city-center address rarely can: genuine calm. The interiors are designed with attention to both aesthetics and acoustics, creating an intimacy that suits the food. The team speaks of serving guests at eye level — a phrase that signals warmth without informality, attentiveness without performance.

Beyond the main dining room, Gastromé offers a Wine Cellar Collective, where members can store their own bottles in professional conditions, access a private tasting room, and join exclusive events — winemaker dinners, Champagne festivals, Burgundy evenings — that extend the restaurant's world well beyond the plate.

Recognition and Regulars

More than a decade with a Michelin star means Gastromé has built a loyal following of regulars who return precisely because the kitchen keeps moving. Holding a high and stable standard while still finding room to surprise is the balancing act the team sets itself — and the White Guide's Masters level recognition suggests they are meeting it. For visitors to Aarhus looking for a fine dining experience that carries genuine weight, Gastromé is the clear answer.

White Guide — Masters level

Gastromé is perhaps one of Aarhus's gourmet restaurants that tends to fly a bit under the radar. And with the restaurant's relatively new address in the suburb of Risskov, away from the city center, one might fear that this would only be reinforced. But that is by no means the case. Gastromé truly seems to have found its gastronomic footing in the beautiful white patrician villa, away from the hustle and bustle of the city center. It is elegant, cozy, and delightfully tasty.
