The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Where Canadian Ingredients Meet French Technique

Situated inside the Fairmont Royal York at 100 Front Street West, REIGN occupies one of Toronto's most storied addresses and brings to it a menu that draws deeply from Canadian producers while leaning on French culinary sensibility. The wine program earned a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2023 — a recognition that speaks to the seriousness of the list and the overall ambition of the room.

A Menu Rooted in Ontario

The cooking at REIGN is anchored by relationships with local suppliers. Beef comes from Creekside Farms, steelhead trout is sourced from Ontario waters, and burrata is made locally — details that show up across every daypart. The steak tartare, built from Creekside Farms beef with hazelnut, preserved egg yolk, truffle and crostini, is a signature that appears on both the bar and dinner menus. East Coast oysters arrive with champagne mignonette and yuzu pearls; PEI lobster finds its way into a linguine finished with lobster bisque and basil oil.

The French influence surfaces in preparations like a Spring Pea Velouté, duck cromesquis with wild blueberry gastrique, and a Cape d'Or Salmon plated over potato gnocchi with champagne velouté and salmon roe — dishes where classical technique gives structure to Canadian ingredients.

From Bay Street Lunch to Evening Service

Weekday lunch runs as the Bay Street Business Lunch — a seasonal, rotating set menu offered Monday through Friday, with two courses at $45 and three at $55. It's a practical format for the financial district crowd, but the food doesn't cut corners. Breakfast is equally considered, with smoked Ontario steelhead trout tartines, heritage egg Benedicts, and a Banana Foster French Toast that leans into indulgence without apology.

The bar program, available from 11 a.m. through close, extends the kitchen's range with items like chicken liver parfait with mosto cotto and pistachio, and crispy artichoke hearts with lemon aioli — the kind of all-day list that makes the space work as well for a late afternoon drink as for a full dinner.

The Wine Cellar

The Wine Spectator recognition underscores what guests regularly find: a cellar with genuine depth and careful curation. For a restaurant that spans breakfast through dinner and hosts private dining and events, maintaining that standard across the full program is no small thing — and it's what keeps REIGN distinct among Toronto's Canadian-French dining options.
