The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Toronto Institution, Elevated

Since opening in 2007, Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse has quietly become one of Toronto's most enduring dining institutions. Built on craftsmanship and genuine care, the restaurant earned an international reputation for its exceptional steaks and signature dry-aging program long before it moved to its current address. In 2025, Jacobs & Co. relocated to a purpose-built space on the fourth floor of CIBC Square at 81 Bay Street—a setting designed to reflect the restaurant's present ambitions while honouring nearly two decades of legacy.

The Space and the Team

The new room is a considered one: a state-of-the-art Dry Aging Room is on full display, a refined piano bar anchors the lounge, and the interiors are designed to invite guests to linger rather than rush. Executive Chef Danny McCallum leads the kitchen, working a menu that evolves daily—steakhouse classics balanced against seasonal, globally sourced ingredients. The result is a steakhouse that respects tradition without being bound by it.

What to Expect at the Table

The kitchen's attention to detail extends well beyond the cut of beef. A curated raw bar, a tableside Caesar, and the restaurant's now-famous take-home muffins have all become signatures in their own right. The lounge runs a weekday happy hour with oysters, burgers, and bar bites alongside cocktails and wine by the glass—an accessible entry point into a room that can otherwise feel occasion-worthy.

Wine has always been central to the Jacobs & Co. experience, and the cellar's depth is recognized by Wine Spectator, which awarded the restaurant its Best of Award of Excellence in 2025—one of the guide's most competitive distinctions, reserved for lists that go well beyond the expected.

Hospitality Without Pretension

What distinguishes Jacobs & Co. from the broader steakhouse category is tone. The welcome is warm, the service precise, and the atmosphere—despite the polished surroundings—unpretentious. Directly connected to Union Station and the downtown PATH network, the restaurant is straightforwardly accessible, which may explain why it draws a loyal mix of regulars, business diners, and visitors in equal measure.
