Al Mahara sits within the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah on Dubai's Jumeirah Beach Road — a building that began as a sketch inspired by a passing sail in 1993 and rose from the Arabian Gulf to reshape the city's skyline forever. The hotel's sail-shaped silhouette pays tribute to Dubai's seafaring heritage, and Al Mahara — meaning "the oyster" in Arabic — carries that same spirit directly to the dining room.

A Room Unlike Any Other

The restaurant's setting is inseparable from its reputation. Housed inside one of the world's most recognisable structures, the space reflects the hotel's philosophy of "haute decoration": gold leaf, Statuario marble, Swarovski crystal, and bespoke craftsmanship that has been carefully maintained and refined over more than 25 years of continuous operation. French architect Tristan Auer is now overseeing a considered restoration of the Burj Al Arab — preserving its bold identity while introducing contemporary comfort — ensuring the environment that frames every meal at Al Mahara endures for decades to come.

Seafood at the Highest Level

Al Mahara's focus on seafood fine dining earned it a place among The World's 50 Best Restaurants three consecutive years running — ranked 17th in 2002, 23rd in 2003, and 31st in 2004 — a period when very few restaurants in the Middle East appeared on that list at all. That recognition placed Dubai firmly on the global fine dining map and established Al Mahara as the standard-bearer for serious seafood dining in the region.

The restaurant's Italian and seafood-led approach brings together the produce of the sea with a culinary sensibility rooted in precision and restraint. Private dining rooms, valet parking, and full wheelchair access ensure that the experience is as considered in its hospitality as it is in the kitchen.
