The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Peruvian Feast at Atlantis The Royal

La Mar by Gastón Acurio describes itself simply and accurately: "La Mar is a party." Positioned within Atlantis The Royal on Dubai's Palm Jumeirah, this is the celebrated Peruvian chef's outpost in the UAE, and it carries the energy of the cebicherías that inspired it — vibrant, generous, and rooted in the coastal traditions of Peru.

The restaurant's Wine Spectator Award of Excellence reflects a drinks program that takes the beverage side as seriously as the food. That recognition sits comfortably alongside a menu that is anything but restrained.

The Menu

Peruvian cuisine here spans the full breadth of the tradition. The cebiches section alone runs six variations — from a Classic built on chef's fish selection with crispy corn and sweet potato in leche de tigre, to a Brasa featuring bluefin tuna with smoked yellow chili leche de tigre. Tiraditos include Hokkaido scallops with avocado and garlic chips, and a Smoked Shiso with bluefin tuna and yellow chilli tare.

The Nikkei section — reflecting Peru's Japanese culinary influence — offers Wagyu beef nigiri with fried quail egg and crispy potato, alongside Hokkaido scallop nigiri with torched butter miso. From the grill, the Pulpo A La Brasa arrives with Peruvian pesto and botija olive emulsion, while the Parrillada La Mar brings together calamari, scallops, octopus and prawns with anticuchera sauce.

Wok dishes include a Lomo Saltado Criollo with Black Angus tenderloin, and a Chaufa Wagyu with MB9 wagyu striploin and fried rice. For those inclined toward premium cuts, a 1.4 kg MB9 Australian Tomahawk is grilled and served with chimichurri and Peruvian corn gratin. A fresh fish and seafood counter rounds things out with daily specials.

No meal, the restaurant insists, is complete without a Pisco Sour — and that rings true whether you're seated inside the contemporary dining room or on the outdoor terrace as the sun drops behind the Dubai skyline.

The Setting

The indoor-outdoor format suits the scale of the experience. The terrace, in particular, offers a front-row view of the Dubai skyline at dusk — a backdrop that makes the already celebratory atmosphere feel occasion-worthy without requiring one. This is Peruvian cuisine presented with confidence, in a setting that matches its ambition.
