The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Neighborhood Spot That Punches Above Its Price Point

On Baggesensgade in Copenhagen's Nørrebro, Safari has carved out a reputation as one of the area's most appealing evening destinations — a shaker-style venue where the window seats fill early and the atmosphere stays genuinely relaxed. The White Guide awarded it Fine level recognition for 2026, singling it out as "a super-cozy little oasis of good class for any budget." That last phrase matters: Safari is serious about food without being precious about access.

The Menu

The kitchen works with a tight, focused format. A weekday menu of five courses runs 335 kr, while the weekend menu stretches to six courses at 400 kr — both built around snacks, bread with olive oil, coppa with pickled vegetables, and a kitchen-chosen crostini before guests choose between two starters and two mains. The pistachio ice cream with strawberry and olive oil closes things out.

For those who prefer to graze, the à la carte list is equally considered: crostini with vitello tonnato or anchovy and butter, crudo of halibut, cacio e pepe, casarecce with courgette and anchovy, risotto with green asparagus and wild garlic, and agnolotti filled with veal, pork, and chicken broth. Dishes skew Italian in their references — pasta, polenta, crudo — executed with a directness that lets the ingredients speak.

White Guide's reviewers noted specific highlights: grilled carrots with vadouvan beurre blanc, dashi, and hazelnuts described as "the optimal way to serve carrots"; a toast with sage mayo, slow-baked tomato, and anchovy delivering a satisfying umami hit; and fettuccine in lemon-mussel broth with parsley providing the kind of fullness that calls for a glass of orange wine or a red Burgundy from David Duband.

The Wine and the Room

The wine list leans heavily into natural wines, which suits the informal but attentive service style. Plates arrive at a pace that adjusts to the table rather than the kitchen's convenience — a small detail that makes a real difference over the course of an evening. Safari also part of a small group of Copenhagen restaurants that includes Kima, Omar, and Lamar, suggesting a consistent hospitality philosophy across the portfolio.

The result is a room where a careful dinner for two doesn't require a special occasion — just an appetite for well-made food and a good bottle.

2026
White Guide — Fine level

On Nørrebro in Copenhagen there is a new hip spot that has room for everyone. The prices are extremely reasonable, the food is tasty and filling, and the wine list is packed with natural wines. A menu with eight small dishes costs 325 kr, but it is also possible to order the smaller dishes à la carte. Seated at the window in the shaker‑style venue, plate after plate is served with friendliness, attentiveness, and a reasonable pace that adapts to the table. Some of the dishes are super classic and simple, such as good melon and vintage cured ham or soy‑marinated tuna in thick slices with lamb’s lettuce and peanuts. The thick slices work well here, although that thickness isn’t suitable for the scallops with peas, glass cabbage and lovage, which burst with flavor. In contrast, the grilled carrots with vadouvan beurre blanc, dashi, and hazelnuts are the optimal way to serve carrots. A toast with sage mayo, slow‑baked tomato, and anchovy ensures a satisfying umami hit, and the fettuccine with lemon‑mussel broth and parsley provides fullness that is washed down with orange wine or red Burgundy from David Duband. A super‑cozy little oasis of good class for any budget.
