On Vesterbro Square, at the corner of Vesterbrogade 51, Resto Bar has quickly become one of Copenhagen's most talked-about Italian eateries. The White Guide describes the room as packed and full of warmth radiating from the open kitchen outward — and notes that hopeful diners linger outside, waiting for a no-show to free up a table. The Food

The menu reads like a love letter to the Italian table, structured around the familiar rhythms of antipasti, pasta, secondi, and dessert — but executed with a lightness and specificity that sets it apart. Starters include vitello tonnato, a puntarelle salad listed simply as "signature," and a havbars crudo with tomato and marjoram. The pasta selection covers classic aglio e olio alongside more considered plates like pappardelle with rabbit ragù and marjoram, or paccheri with salsiccia ragù.

For lunch, a four-course sharing menu runs at 250 DKK; in the evening, five courses at 395 DKK — the server knows the menu, and the whole table joins in. It is the kind of format that suits Italian cooking perfectly: generous, communal, unhurried.

The Wine

The wine list is serious without being intimidating. Italian regions are well represented — Barolo from Burlotto and Brovia, Brunello from Mastrojanni and Poggio di Sotto, Etna Bianco from Vino di Anna — but the list ranges confidently across Burgundy, Jura, Loire, and Champagne. Grower Champagnes from Chartogne-Taillet and Vouette & Sorbée sit alongside natural and orange wines from Alsace and Switzerland. It is a list that reflects genuine curiosity.

The Atmosphere

Resto Bar earns its White Guide "Very Fine Level" recognition not through formality but through energy. The open kitchen keeps the room alive, the square outside extends the experience in warmer months, and the format — sharing plates, a tight menu, a well-chosen cellar — makes every visit feel considered. Italian cuisine done with this kind of conviction is rare in Copenhagen, which is precisely why the tables fill so fast.
