The story
Propaganda - next door sits literally next door to Propaganda's popular Korean-inspired eatery on Vester Farimagsgade in Copenhagen — and the shift in register is immediate. The space is small, the shoulders drop, and head chef Youra Kim is visible in the open kitchen, cooking the meal herself. The White Guide described it precisely: the atmosphere is as if you were in her own home kitchen. That sense of ease and intimacy is not incidental — it is the whole point.
The set menu, priced at 450 DKK per person, is Youra Kim's own cooking, and the à la carte menu at the main restaurant gives a clear sense of her culinary language: bold, ingredient-forward dishes that move fluidly across Korean, Southeast Asian and broader influences. Tom yam mussels with red curry, lemongrass and galangal. Charred mackerel with beetroot juice and cucumber. White asparagus deep-fried in crispy rice paper with ramson mayo. Mushroom and coconut sticky rice steamed in banana leaves with a green pepper tamarind sauce. Korean fried chicken coated in fermented chili glaze. Desserts lean into the same register — a gochugaru crème brûlée with sweet soy, or coco sticky rice with rhubarb jam and poached rhubarb.
The cooking is confident and specific, without announcing itself.
The White Guide awarded Propaganda - next door a "Very fine level" distinction for 2026 — recognition that reflects both the quality of Kim's cooking and the particular character of the experience she has created. In a city with no shortage of ambitious restaurants, what stands out here is restraint: a small room, one chef, one menu, and cooking that tastes like it comes from somewhere personal.
