The story
The Long @ Times Square occupies a singular stretch of Ho Chi Minh City real estate — 48 metres of marble-topped bar running between Dong Khoi, the city's most fashionable street, and Nguyen Hue Boulevard, its grand ceremonial thoroughfare. An arched skylight runs the full length of the room, flooding the space with light and giving the venue its unmistakable sidewalk-café character. With seating for 180 and standing room for 300, it is a place designed for gathering.
Recognised by Gambero Rosso, the Italian food and wine authority, The Long has earned its place among Ho Chi Minh City's most notable dining addresses — a distinction that speaks to the seriousness behind what might first appear to be a casual neighbourhood haunt.
The kitchen's centrepiece is a wood-fired Acunto forno — a Neapolitan oven brand with deep roots in the craft — paired with burrata flown in twice weekly from Italy. The flour is imported, the recipes carry three generations of tradition, and the result is what the restaurant calls, with some justification, the gold standard for artisanal pizza in Saigon. Alongside the pizzas, the menu moves comfortably between Asian and Western registers: Tangy Green Papaya Salad, Tiger Prawns with Vietnamese Herbs, Barbeque Pork Ribs, and sharing platters of beef or mixed meats served with salads, fries and sauces.
The gelato bar offers 16 flavours, ranging from Soursop and Salted Caramel Cashew to Gianduja — fruits sourced from Italy and France, Belgian chocolate, German milk. It is a small detail that signals the broader philosophy: ingredients matter, provenance matters.
The drinks programme leans into Italian aperitivo culture, with a curated cocktail list that includes names like Rosa Di Roma, Lucia Bianca, and Dolce E Amaro. For something more theatrical, liquid nitrogen cocktails are on offer as well. Happy hour runs daily, and weekend promotions extend to the pizza menu — making The Long as practical for a midweek business lunch as it is for a Friday evening on the boulevard.
