The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Scratch Italian in the Heart of York

On North George Street in downtown York, Pennsylvania, Tutoni's has spent over a decade doing one thing with quiet conviction: cooking scratch, farm-to-table Italian food that draws directly from the region's agricultural landscape. The menu offers creative dishes and fresh spins on traditional Italian standards — "taking it back to the old country," as the restaurant puts it — while staying rooted in what's seasonal and local. Every menu reflects the best of what nearby farms are producing, because at Tutoni's, seasonal makes sense and people are priority.

Chef Dave and a Team Built Around the Table

Executive Chef Dave leads the kitchen, crafting seasonal farm-to-table courses that shift with the rhythms of the region. Alongside him, sommeliers Taylor Small and Sam Gibson bring depth and genuine enthusiasm to the wine program — a program that earned Tutoni's the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2021. That recognition speaks to a wine list curated with real intention, one that pairs naturally with the Italian and Piedmontese flavors coming out of the kitchen.

The Piedmontese thread runs through the restaurant's identity in a meaningful way: dedicated wine dinners explore the nebbiolo-driven classics and lesser-known varietals of that northern Italian region, with Chef Dave's farm-sourced courses built to match each pour.

Wine Dinners, Classes, and a Broader Community

Tutoni's extends well beyond dinner service. Bi-monthly wine dinners take guests through specific Italian regions — Piedmont, and beyond — in an immersive, chef's table format. The restaurant also runs a full calendar of wine and cocktail classes led by the house sommeliers, covering everything from wine fundamentals to mixology.

The pasta classes have become something of an institution. Guests learn to make tagliatelle, ravioli, and non-traditional pasta shapes by hand — working the dough the way Italians have for decades — with take-home instructions and a meal included. These sessions regularly sell out.

The 12th anniversary wine dinner, celebrating twelve years on North George Street, captured the spirit of the place well: five wines from small, family-owned Italian vineyards, paired with local meats and produce, and a toast to the community and small-business partnerships that have sustained Tutoni's from the start.
