The Restaurant at Kanopi

Chef Anthony Gonçalves brings Portuguese soul to the top of White Plains, with sweeping views of NYC and Hudson Valley from The Opus tower.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Portuguese Soul, Sky-High

Perched 42 floors above White Plains atop The Opus, Westchester — just 30 minutes from Midtown Manhattan — The Restaurant at Kanopi occupies one of the most dramatic dining rooms in the New York metro area. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the New York City skyline, the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley, and the Long Island Sound simultaneously, making the setting as much a part of the meal as what arrives at the table.

The Chef Behind the Kitchen

Every dish at Kanopi is shaped by Chef Anthony Gonçalves and his connections to Portugal — its history, artisans, products, and people. His Portuguese cuisine is rooted in the finest locally and globally sourced ingredients, prepared with what he describes as intention, focus, and love. That dedication has earned him recognition as a Semi-Finalist for the James Beard Foundation Annual Awards as Best Chef: New York State, and the restaurant has drawn "Excellent" reviews from the New York Times. The wine program has earned Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence, reflecting the same seriousness applied to the cellar as to the kitchen.

Many of the team members alongside Gonçalves today have worked with him for over two decades. That continuity shows in the service — personal, attentive, and unhurried, with guests met at the stunning glass elevator and treated with consistent care throughout their visit.

The Space and the Experience

Kanopi operates as both a restaurant and a private event venue, with four customizable spaces filled with natural light by day and city glow by night. The marquee South Room offers double-height ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows for up to 60 seated guests; the Sky Room accommodates up to 160. Whether for a private dinner or a larger celebration, the kitchen draws on Hudson Valley produce, farm-raised prime meats, and wild-caught seafood to build menus around the occasion.

Guests of The Opus, Westchester Hotel and Ritz-Carlton Residents receive a discount on dinner, but the restaurant is open to all who want to experience Portuguese fine dining with one of the region's most remarkable views as their backdrop.
