The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Story That Started with a Hamburger

Morton's The Steakhouse traces its origins to an unlikely moment: co-founders Arnie Morton and Klaus Fritsch, both working at the Playboy Club in Montreal, were brought together by a single hamburger that Arnie declared the best he'd ever tasted. That chance encounter became what they called the "Million-Dollar Hamburger" — and the foundation for a steakhouse that first opened on State Street in Chicago in 1978. Today, the White Plains location on Mamaroneck Avenue carries forward the same guiding principles: quality, consistency, and genuine hospitality.

The Steak, and What Comes With It

At its core, Morton's is a steakhouse built around USDA prime-aged beef — the top 2% of beef available in the United States. The same suppliers have been used since day one, and any cut that doesn't meet Morton's standards simply doesn't make it to the table. Beyond the steaks, the menu extends to fresh seafood: Chilean Sea Bass, Oysters on the Half Shell, Colossal Shrimp, and Red King Crab Legs, among others. Seasonal additions — currently including a Prime Bavette Steak Frites, Wagyu Beef Stroganoff, Oysters Rockefeller, and a Lobster & Crab Cocktail — keep the menu moving without losing sight of what the kitchen does best.

Wine, Taken Seriously

The wine program here is not an afterthought. Morton's holds the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, and the White Plains location maintains a list of more than 300 wines. Exclusive vintages, private wine lockers, sommelier selections, and rotating Bottle Shock features give guests genuine range — whether the goal is a well-matched glass or something rarer. An on-site sommelier is available to guide the pairing, and the restaurant also hosts Guild of Sommeliers tastings in its private dining rooms at select locations.

The Room, and Beyond It

The atmosphere balances a bustling bar scene — hand-crafted cocktails, craft brews, chef-selected bar bites — with elegant dining rooms suited to business dinners, celebrations, or a quiet evening out. Private dining rooms and full catering options make this White Plains steakhouse a practical choice for events of all sizes, handled with the same care given to every individual table.
