The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Uproot Yourself from the Ordinary

Uproot sets out to do something straightforward but genuinely hard: make people talk excitedly about their food. Located on Mount Bethel Road in Warren, New Jersey, this creative American restaurant builds its menu around local ingredients, classic techniques, handmade components, and what the kitchen describes as "childhood-inspired standards and modern international cuisine." The result is a dining room where a quiet date night and a laughter-filled family dinner feel equally at home.

A Menu Built for Conversation

The food at Uproot resists easy categorization, which is precisely the point. Starters lean into bold, playful combinations — coffee-rubbed wings with house-made blue cheese, fried Brussels sprouts with guava and Dominican cheese, buffalo cauliflower with Maker's Mark bourbon. The kitchen sources its burgers from John's Meat Market, a local butcher, and its 12-inch pizzas are baked in a Woodstone oven using 100% U.S. organic non-GMO flour, house-made mozzarella, and local New Jersey tomatoes. Standout pies include the Truffle Champignon — sautéed mixed mushrooms, caramelized onions, truffle-studded cheese, and arugula — and the Broken Burrata with prosciutto di Parma and roasted grape tomatoes. All fish on the menu is line-caught or sustainably sourced.

Lunch brings its own rhythm: a $18 pairing format lets guests mix soup, salad, and sandwiches — including a brisket Rachel on sourdough or a marinated skirt steak sandwich with chimichurri aioli. The handhelds and salads carry the same attention to detail as the dinner menu, without the formality.

Multiple Spaces, One Spirit

Uproot occupies several distinct dining areas under one roof. The bar is for cocktails and small bites; the lounge suits a quick beer and burger; the dining room is where groups settle in to share the full menu. This flexibility — casual enough for families, relaxed enough for a date — reflects the restaurant's core belief that food is fundamentally a social experience.

Wine at the Center

Wine is woven deeply into Uproot's identity. The restaurant holds Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence (2024), recognition that reflects both the depth of the list and the seriousness with which wine is paired alongside the creative American kitchen. Regular wine dinners — including past collaborations with producers like Gaja — give guests the chance to explore pairings in a more structured, immersive setting.
