Five Decades on South Main Street

The Chalkboard Kitchen + Bar opened its doors in downtown Tulsa in 1976 and has spent the decades since earning its place as one of the city's most enduring dining institutions. What began as a commitment to quality American cuisine and genuine hospitality has grown into a fifty-year legacy — enough of a milestone that the restaurant is currently marking it with a special three-course anniversary menu priced at $50, blending elevated classics with the comfort the kitchen has always been known for.

The Food and the Wine

Two dishes appear on every menu iteration and every anniversary celebration: the signature Beef Wellington and the bread pudding served since the very beginning. These are the anchors of a broader American menu that spans breakfast through dinner daily, with brunch on weekends, a full bar program, and handcrafted cocktails. The kitchen also draws on locally-sourced ingredients to keep the menu grounded in Oklahoma's own flavors.

The wine program has earned its own recognition — Wine Spectator awarded The Chalkboard its Award of Excellence in 2024, a distinction that reflects the care put into a curated selection worthy of the restaurant's long-standing reputation for hospitality.

The Room and the Experience

The Tulsa location sits at 1324 S. Main Street in downtown, open seven days a week from early morning through late evening. The patio — heated and dog-friendly — extends the dining room outdoors, while the wine cellar private dining room accommodates up to thirty guests for intimate gatherings. For larger parties, additional event spaces are available through the hotel.
