Set within the sprawling 42-acre Grounds for Sculpture campus in Hamilton Township, the restaurant feels, as the team puts it, like stepping into a cozy French countryside café, somewhere unhurried and quietly extraordinary.

The kitchen is managed by Constellation Culinary Group, a chef-driven operation committed to what they describe as "an authentic European aesthetic, bold French menu inspiration, warm service, and fresh seasonality." That last point is grounded in geography: Central New Jersey sits at the center of a rich agricultural region, and the team sources from a wide array of local growers to keep the menu responsive to the seasons.

The French cuisine at Rat's spans the full day — brunch, lunch, happy hour, and dinner — alongside a dedicated dessert menu and a wine list that earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2023. That recognition reflects a genuine commitment to pairing: the cellar is curated to complement the seasonal cooking rather than simply fill a list.

For those who want to go deeper, the Chef's Table offers a 6- to 7-course curated dinner with wine pairings, available the last Thursday of every month and on select Wednesdays and Fridays, for up to eight guests at a time. It is the most intimate expression of what the kitchen can do.
