The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Dining Landmark Since 1907

In 1907, Charles and Franziska Rothmann established what would become one of Long Island's most enduring dining institutions. From the beginning, the couple espoused a tradition of fine food and impeccable service that drew an extraordinary clientele — among them President Theodore Roosevelt, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Elizabeth Taylor. More than a century later, that standard hasn't wavered.

Situated at 6319 Northern Blvd. in East Norwich, Rothmann's Steakhouse is recognized as one of the premier steakhouses in New York, a reputation underscored by its Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence — a mark of distinction that speaks directly to the depth and curation of its wine program.

Prime Cuts and More

The heart of the menu is exactly what you'd expect from a classic American steakhouse: prime dry-aged steaks, prepared with the kind of care that comes from over a hundred years of practice. But Rothmann's has never stood still. The kitchen also offers creative, fresh sushi — sashimi, rolls, and more — alongside surf and turf, veal chops, lamb chops, and fresh seafood like halibut and swordfish. It's a classic steakhouse menu, as the restaurant puts it, "with great additions from the present."

Desserts are made in-house and range from a Chocolate Molten Cake with crème anglaise to a Salted Caramel Bomb of gelato encased in chocolate ganache. After-dinner drinks — spiked coffees topped with fresh whipped cream — round out the evening with warmth.

Sundays, Special Events, and a Dress Code Worth Keeping

Sunday Brunch is a weekly ritual here, running from 10:30am to 3pm and offering a full spread in the grand dining room. The restaurant also hosts private events and Saturday afternoon packages, making it a natural choice for celebrations that call for something genuinely special.

The dress code — smart casual, with athletic wear, hoodies, and hats firmly turned away at the door — signals the kind of experience Rothmann's is committed to delivering. This is a place that takes hospitality seriously, in the tradition its founders set more than a century ago.
