Sustainably sourced Florida Stone Crab, prime hand-cut steaks, and an award-winning wine list at Truluck's fine dining destination in Southlake, TX.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Ocean's Finest, on the Texas Prairie

Truluck's has been serving communities since 1992, built by the same two founders who still run it today — no private equity, no outside investors. The Southlake location at Plaza Place brings that same privately held ethos to the DFW suburbs: a fine American dining experience anchored in sustainable seafood, prime steaks, and hospitality that guests consistently describe as feeling like a return visit among friends.

The Stone Crab Story

The centerpiece of the menu is Florida Stone Crab, and Truluck's relationship with it goes well beyond sourcing. A dedicated team of crabbing professionals — operating by the same standards for three generations — ventures daily into the waters surrounding the Florida Keys during the October 15 through May 1 season. Each crab has a single claw humanely removed before being returned to the ocean, where it will regenerate the claw over the coming months. The claws are cooked, packed in ice, and delivered to the restaurant in under 24 hours. Truluck's serves roughly 300,000 fresh Florida Stone Crab claws each year, and none of them frozen — ever.

That standard of sourcing extends across the entire menu. The origin of every fish is specified, produce comes from local growers where possible, and the kitchen follows Marine Stewardship Council certification and Ocean Conservancy guidelines. Highlights include the exclusive TRU PEARLE oyster — a farm-raised, hand-selected variety available daily — and Ōra King Salmon, responsibly raised and described by the restaurant as the wagyu of the sea. For guests who prefer land to sea, USDA prime steaks are cut in-house, then aged, seasoned, and broiled to order.

The Room and the List

The Wine Spectator Award of Excellence recognizes wine programs that offer well-chosen selections suited to the cuisine, and Truluck's has held that recognition since 2008 — a signal of the seriousness with which the list is maintained. The bar program matches that ambition: nightly happy hour offers handcrafted cocktails, wines by the glass, and oysters at half price, while the Martini Experience — four distinct martinis crafted with what the team calls pristine ingredients and elegant technique — has its own following.

Private and group dining spaces accommodate everything from corporate board meetings to rehearsal dinners and anniversary celebrations, with flexible floor plans and an events team that handles the details so guests can focus on the meal.

Giving Back as Standard Practice

Truluck's treats community investment as a business practice rather than a footnote. Across all locations, the group supports more than 150 non-profit organizations annually, with documented donations to causes including the PTSD Foundation of America's Camp Hope, Autism Speaks, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, among many others. At Southlake, that culture of service is as much a part of the experience as the food itself.
