The story
Opened in 2010 on the ground floor of the Infinity Towers, just a block from the Embarcadero, Prospect is a hospitality-driven American restaurant born from the collaboration of James Beard award-winning Chef Nancy Oakes, Chef Pam Mazzola, and Kathy King. The trio built something that has endured in one of the country's most competitive dining cities: a warm, modern room with a serious kitchen and an equally serious bar.
The cooking is contemporary California cuisine — meaning the menu follows what local farms and markets are offering, not the other way around. Seasonal ingredients shape every plate, keeping the food honest and connected to the region. The large bar area extends that philosophy into the glass, with craft cocktails, classic martinis, zero-proof creations, and a wine selection that Wine Spectator recognized with its Best of Award of Excellence in 2025 — one of the guide's highest distinctions, reserved for restaurants with exceptional depth and breadth in their wine programs.
The interior strikes a warm modern tone, comfortable enough for a casual weeknight dinner, polished enough for a milestone celebration. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 pm in the bar and lounge, with craft cocktails, beer, wine, and bar snacks. Dinner service follows from 5 to 9 pm. For those who want to bring the experience home, the dinner menu along with specialty cocktails and wine are available for takeout as well.
Prospect also offers a fully private setting for events — weddings, birthdays, graduations, business dinners — with menus tailored to each occasion. It's a practical and elegant option in a part of San Francisco that draws both neighborhood regulars and visitors coming in from the waterfront.
