The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Houston Legacy Arrives on the San Antonio River Walk

Brenner's on the River Walk brings a lineage that stretches back to 1936, when Brenner's Steakhouse first established itself as one of Houston's most respected dining institutions. This San Antonio location is the newest addition to the family — and it carries that heritage forward with the same commitment to tradition, personalized service, and settings that leave an impression. Earning Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence in 2024 and recognized as a top-six fine dining destination in the United States by Traveler's Choice Best of the Best, it has already made a mark well beyond its years on the River Walk.

Three Floors, Breathtaking Views, and a Serious Steakhouse Menu

The three-story dining room offers River Walk views from every table — a setting that is both lively and genuinely elegant. Live music plays nightly from 6 to 10 pm, and the bar opens at 4 pm, giving the evening room to breathe before dinner service begins.

The steakhouse menu is built around provenance. Beef comes from named Texas ranches — R-C Ranch out of Bailey's Prairie, 44 Farms in Cameron, HeartBrand Beef from Flatonia — alongside Snake River Farms American Wagyu and Japanese A5 from Miyazaki, Hokkaido, and Kagoshima prefectures. The steak selection runs from an 8 oz. center-cut filet mignon to a 36 oz. USDA Tomahawk, with USDA Prime NY Strip and Ribeye options in between. Complements include truffle butter, a cognac-peppercorn sauce, béarnaise, and a boutique salt service that arrives tableside.

Beyond the Cut

The cold bar is a statement on its own — an Executive Tower of king crab, lobster, oysters, mussels, shrimp, caviar, and tuna poke, alongside ossetra caviar served with traditional accompaniments and east coast oysters. Appetizers range from sliced A5 Wagyu on a hot stone to a wagyu steak tartare with black garlic aioli and brioche, and maple glazed quail with gochujang sriracha.

Signature entrees beyond the steakhouse classics include a braised short rib with mole sauce and cheesy grits, miso glazed sea bass over sticky rice, and Gulf red snapper finished with jumbo lump crab and lemon butter. OpenTable's Diner's Choice recognition for a notable wine list in 2025 reflects the same attention to detail that earned the Wine Spectator honor — the cellar is clearly taken seriously here.

Sunday brunch and private dining options for both intimate gatherings and larger groups round out what is, by any measure, one of San Antonio's most complete fine dining destinations.
