The story
Lupo Italian Kitchen sits inside the elegant Hotel Rehoboth, right on Rehoboth Avenue in the heart of downtown Rehoboth Beach. The concept is straightforward and confident: Italian cuisine — both traditional and decidedly not — built around fresh, house-made pasta, locally caught seafood, and local produce. Mediterranean flavors meet the Delaware coast, and the result feels specific rather than generic.
Every pasta at Lupo is made in-house, and it shows in dishes that have become signatures: Lobster Bucatini, Shrimp Carbonara, Clams and Linguini, Rigatoni Bolognese, and the perennial crowd-pleaser of spaghetti and meatballs. Chicken parmesan and eggplant parmesan round out the more traditional side of the menu. Wednesday nights bring half-priced pasta for dine-in guests — a weekly ritual that draws regulars year-round.
The all-Italian wine list is a serious undertaking, curated to match the coastal Italian menu with bottles drawn exclusively from the peninsula's regions. That commitment has earned Lupo the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence consecutively since 2017 — recognition that reflects both the depth of the list and the staff's ability to guide guests through it. The team is described as courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable, which in a beach-town setting means genuinely helpful rather than performative.
The bar runs a daily happy hour from 5 to 7 PM, and the restaurant operates seven days a week throughout the year — not just in summer — making it a genuine anchor for Rehoboth Beach's dining scene rather than a seasonal stop. General Manager Alex Carmean, Executive Chef Jeff Hunter, and Sous Chef Felix Burgos lead the operation, bringing a professional backbone to what is, at its core, a neighborhood Italian kitchen that happens to be very good at what it does.
