On South Palm Canyon Drive, inside what the restaurant itself describes as a neighborhood bistro, a 550-selection wine cellar and a seasonal American kitchen have held the same standard for over two decades — earning 21 consecutive Wine Spectator Awards, including five consecutive Best of Award of Excellence recognitions. That kind of sustained consistency is rare anywhere; in the Coachella Valley, it is unmatched.

A Wine Program Built to Be Drunk

The guiding philosophy here is captured in four words: every bottle priced to drink. Rather than treating the cellar as a trophy case, Zin makes its depth accessible. The team takes visible pride in pairing each dinner with the right choice for each palate — an approach that earned the Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence and keeps regulars returning as much for the list as for the food.

The kitchen runs from weekend brunch through late-night dinner, with a menu that reflects locally sourced, creative American cooking. Brunch brings dishes like a Short Rib Benedict — slow-braised short rib, sun-dried tomato hollandaise, and seared polenta cakes — alongside Zin's signature buttermilk fried chicken and Belgian waffles with hot honey. Starters like Zin Bites (crispy puff pastry stuffed with filet mignon, goat cheese, and a zinfandel shallot reduction) and PEI Mussels prepared daily in limited quantities signal a kitchen that pays attention to detail. The seasonal cuisine extends through craft cocktails — including house rosemary-infused vodka Bloody Marys and a full spirit-free menu — and a dessert program that rounds out the experience.

The heated and cooled large patio on South Palm Canyon Drive makes Zin a year-round destination, suited equally to Champagne brunches, relaxed weekday lunches, and late dinners on Friday and Saturday nights. The restaurant opens all holidays with seasonal prix fixe menus, and private events and catering round out its role as a genuine community gathering place — the "community table" of its own motto.
