On Main Street in the village of Northport — one of Long Island's Gold Coast hallmark towns, just over an hour from New York City — The Northport Hotel Restaurant brings together American cooking and serious seafood in a setting that feels both polished and genuinely relaxed. The restaurant sits within a 26-room boutique hotel whose white-glove ethos carries straight through to the dining room, without ever tipping into stiffness.

The Kitchen and the Menu

Executive Chef Michael Ross leads the kitchen, and his menus reflect a confident command of American seafood and land-based classics alike. The Brunch & Bubbles program, served weekends, offers a good sense of the kitchen's range: Blue Claw Crab Bisque with jumbo lump crabmeat and vermouth; Fried Artichokes finished with a jumbo lump crab beurre blanc; Pan Blackened Swordfish over basmati rice with a crawfish and shrimp cream sauce; and a Crab Cake Benedict built on English muffin with sauce maltaise. Oysters — today's local and East Coast selections — are priced by the piece and served with mignonette and cocktail sauce. Steaks, including a skirt steak with chimichurri, round out a menu that moves comfortably between the water and the grill. Weekday lunch and dinner seven nights a week extend the options further.

The Wine Program

The restaurant's wine list earned the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2025 — recognition the team describes as a reflection of "thoughtful curation, balance and a genuine love of sharing great bottles with guests." The Brunch & Bubbles Champagne selection alone spans Telmont, Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé, Dom Pérignon, and local North Fork sparklers from Sparkling Pointe, offered at dedicated brunch pricing.

The Setting and the Village

The restaurant accommodates private events for up to 22 guests and semi-private gatherings, making it a natural choice for celebrations alongside the hotel's event spaces. Outdoor seating and a bar that stays open past the last dinner seating add further flexibility. Beyond the dining room, the village itself — with its deep-water harbor, vintage trolley-tracked Main Street, and the acclaimed John W. Engeman Theater next door (owned by the same team) — gives the whole experience a sense of place that's hard to replicate elsewhere on Long Island.
