Celebrated table

Junoon

Michelin-starred 8 years running, Junoon brings elegant, modern Indian cuisine to NYC's Flatiron, with a Wine Spectator-awarded cellar to match.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Passion on the Plate

The name says it all. Junoon means "passion" in Hindi, and that conviction runs through every detail of this fine-dining destination on West 24th Street in Manhattan. Restaurateur Rajesh Bhardwaj founded Junoon with a clear ambition: to share his love for the food and culture of his native India and, in doing so, redefine how Indian cuisine is perceived on the international gastronomic stage. The restaurant earned a Michelin star in its opening year and held that distinction for eight consecutive years — a record that speaks for itself.

The Team Behind the Kitchen

The people driving Junoon are as considered as the menu. Corporate Chef Akshay Bhardwaj and Executive Chef Prasanjit Singh lead a kitchen committed to honoring the purest traditional and regional Indian cuisines while simultaneously pushing into modern, inventive territory. Executive Pastry Chef Gustavo Tzocx rounds out the culinary team, while Wine Sommelier Michael Dolinski oversees a cellar that has earned Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence every year since the restaurant opened in 2010.

What's on the Table

The menus reflect a kitchen that takes regional specificity seriously. Dishes draw from across the subcontinent — a Goan-inspired Mushroom Xacutti with morel, maitake, and royal trumpet mushrooms in coconut and poppy seed sauce; a Shank Lal Maas of baby goat braised with mathania chili, mustard, and yogurt; Tuna Puchka with black salt, caviar, and semolina puffs; and Tandoori Octopus with ghost pepper aioli. Desserts hold their own, from Ma's Rice Pudding with candied almonds and caramelized banana to The Mumbai Bar, a white chocolate-coconut mousse with pistachio kataifi and jamun plum sorbet.

The prestige prix-fixe format — available at both lunch and dinner — is built around wine pairing, and the cocktail program is equally deliberate, blending locally farmed fruits and herbs with Indian spices and teas to craft drinks designed to move course by course alongside the food.

The Room and the Experience

Junoon describes itself as "a place of gathering, a place of celebration, a place for business and a place for pleasure" — and the setting supports all of it. Smart casual dress is expected, and the dining room welcomes guests ten and older, signaling the tone: convivial but composed. Private event spaces are available for larger occasions, and the full experience — from the depth of the wine list to the precision of the Indian cooking — is calibrated for those who want more than a meal.
