Cathédrale

French-Mediterranean cuisine under Edoardo Tresoldi's soaring wire sculpture, in a space that honors East Village's storied past.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Setting Unlike Any Other

Inside Cathédrale, the first thing that stops you is the ceiling — or rather, what isn't there. A 26-foot, triple-height void is filled by Fillmore, a monumental wire mesh sculpture by Italian artist Edoardo Tresoldi that conjures the ghost of a grand domed ceiling. Designed by Rockwell Group, the space pays deliberate homage to the Fillmore East, the legendary East Village venue once dubbed the "Church of Rock 'n' Roll." Vintage-style neon signs reference storied neighborhood haunts like the Palladium and The Saint, while copper accents in the open kitchen and an angular bar with flirtatious sightlines complete a room that feels simultaneously theatrical and lived-in.

Chef Jason Hall's French-Mediterranean Table

The kitchen is in the hands of Chef Jason Hall, whose menu paints a picture of the coastal cuisine of Southern France, with deliberate brushstrokes from Italy, Spain, and Greece. The cooking is seasonal and ingredient-driven — French-Mediterranean in spirit but never confined to convention. Signature starters include Hamachi Crudo with Celery Hearts, Green Apple, Minus 8 Verjus, and Black Olive Oil, alongside a Potato Chip Omelette topped with Kaluga Caviar and Crème Fraîche. Main courses range from Black Truffle Fettucine with French Butter, Cracked Pepper and Parmesan, to Faroe Island Salmon with Spring Vegetables and Lemon Confit, to a 22oz Prime Aged Ribeye with Rotisserie Leeks and Sauce Vert. An open-hearth kitchen lets you watch it all come together.

Wine, the Bar, and the Outdoor Terrace

Cathédrale's wine program has earned Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence — a recognition the restaurant has now received three consecutive years, placing it among the world's top restaurant wine lists. Weekly Magnum Mondays put that cellar depth on full display, with rotating pours from producers like Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Ceretto, and Bergström available by the glass. At the bar, an Oysters & Champagne Happy Hour runs Sunday through Friday, with $2 oysters, $5 lobster rolls, $8 champagne, and $14 martinis. Out back, a retractable-roof terrace with foliage spilling from rebar planters and rusted card-file cabinets captures the improvised backyard energy that defines the East Village.

Private Dining and Events

The Poster Room seats up to 32 guests beneath vintage concert posters and backlit screen prints from the Fillmore East era. The adjacent Patio — a garden-party space for up to 58, with a retractable glass ceiling — connects via French doors to create a larger combined venue for receptions, dinners, and milestone celebrations.
