The story
Opened in 2023 on the Weehawken waterfront, Blu on the Hudson occupies a stretch of Harbor Boulevard where the Hudson River and the New York City skyline form an uninterrupted backdrop. The setting alone would draw a crowd, but the kitchen and cellar give guests a reason to stay well beyond the view.
The menu is grounded in contemporary American cuisine — seasonal ingredients treated with modern technique and organized around four distinct programs: exceptional steak, seafood, sushi, and house-made pasta. That range gives the kitchen room to move, whether a table is ordering light at brunch or going deep into a weekend dinner. The beverage side matches the ambition: purposefully curated cocktails and a wine list that earned Blu on the Hudson a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2025, one of the guide's most competitive recognitions for depth and breadth of selection.
The restaurant describes itself as a "collection of stunning spaces," and the footprint supports that claim. Intimate tables for two sit alongside a private events program that scales from a dinner of 10 up to a standing reception of 400 or more guests. A private room is available for smaller gatherings, while the full venue can absorb a serious celebration without losing the feel of a restaurant rather than a banquet hall.
Blu on the Hudson is the flagship of the Blu Hospitality Group, which also operates a Livingston location and has further openings in development. The Weehawken address sets the tone for the group: contemporary American dining anchored by strong product, a wine program worth taking seriously, and a waterfront address that makes the experience hard to replicate anywhere else in the New York metropolitan area.
