Ardesia Wine Bar

A Hell's Kitchen wine bar with 100+ bottles, shareable small plates, and a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. Founded by Mandy Oser in 2009.

The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Hell's Kitchen Institution Since 2009

Mandy Oser opened Ardesia Wine Bar in fall 2009 with a clear purpose: to create a place where wine lovers at every level of knowledge — from curious beginners to seasoned enthusiasts — could find something that genuinely satisfies. More than fifteen years on, that founding philosophy still shapes everything about the room on West 52nd Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues, in the heart of Hell's Kitchen.

The bar draws its identity from the neighborhood itself — its historic past and its vibrant, ever-evolving present — and carries that same unpretentious energy into every aspect of the experience.

The Wine List

The list is the heart of it: over 20 wines by the glass and more than 100 by the bottle, spanning local and international producers, familiar names and lesser-known labels, old world and new world side by side. Wine Spectator recognized this program with its Award of Excellence in 2024, a reflection of the breadth and thoughtfulness Oser brings to her selections. House-crafted cocktails and a curated mix of local and international beers round out the drinks menu for those who want to range a little wider.

Food Designed for Sharing

The American food menu is built around the same ethos as the wine list — eclectic, approachable, and meant to be shared. Chef Bernardo Garcia's dishes are conceived specifically to complement the diverse wine program, with every item on the menu designed as a small plate to pass around the table. Nothing here is precious; the point is good food alongside good wine, in good company.

The Ardesia Wine Club

For those who want to bring the Ardesia experience home, the Ardesia Wine Club (AWC) ships a monthly themed selection — reds, whites, the occasional bottle of bubbles or skin-contact wine — along with tasting notes, producer information, and food pairing tips. Oser hosts a members-only guided tasting via Zoom each month. The club is run in partnership with Beaupierre Wines & Spirits, a nearby Hell's Kitchen shop co-founded by Yannick Benjamin and Heidi Turzyn, who bring a combined 40-plus years of wine and hospitality experience to the collaboration.

The Space

When the weather turns warm, the outdoor patio opens for al fresco sipping. Late nights have their own rhythm too — a late-night happy hour runs from 10pm to close every evening, with drink specials and bar snacks keeping things going well past dinner. The weekday happy hour, running Monday through Friday from 4 to 6pm, is designed for exactly what it sounds like: coworkers, friends, and neighbors coming together to unwind.
