The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Celebration in Every Room

Jack Rose lives inside the historic Pontchartrain Hotel on St. Charles Avenue, and it carries the building's spirit well. Named after Tennessee Williams' play The Rose Tattoo — a nod to the hotel's long association with the playwright — the restaurant is a concept from QED Hospitality, a group that builds genuine, region-rooted dining experiences rather than interchangeable hotel restaurants.

The space itself is designed for spontaneity. Guests move between distinct rooms: the Jack and Rose dining rooms for a proper sit-down dinner, the Living Room for small plates beneath a Lil Wayne portrait, the Mile High Pie Club for private escapades, and the Rose Garden Patio for sparkling rosé in the open air. Quirky décor, plush banquette seating, and tabletop details give the place a character that feels particular to New Orleans rather than borrowed from anywhere else.

The Food and Drink

The menu draws on the Crescent City's layered culinary heritage — Italian, French, and Spanish influences woven through a distinctly Southern American and Creole sensibility. The kitchen's approach is described as unpretentious and skillfully executed, with tableside preparations nodding to classic dishes alongside more contemporary plates. Dishes that appear across the menu include Shrimp Muddy Waters, Steak Tartare, King Trumpet Mushroom, Fried Chicken Parmesan, and a Fluff-a-nutter Sundae — a range that signals comfort and craft in equal measure.

The wine list skews toward bubbles and earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, a recognition that reflects genuine curation rather than sheer volume. Craft cocktails round out a drinks program built to match the restaurant's lively, celebratory tone.

Events and the Wider Culture

Jack Rose participates actively in the rhythms of New Orleans life. Past events have included a Mardi Gras Mile High Pie celebration tied to The Big Book of King Cake — featuring Chef Eka's Mile High Pie Sundae — and a wine dinner paired with Napa Valley's Reynolds Family Vineyards. These aren't afterthoughts; they reflect a kitchen and team that treat the city's calendar as part of the dining experience.

For private gatherings, the restaurant offers dedicated spaces and full event support, making it a natural choice for groups who want the energy of a real New Orleans restaurant rather than a banquet room.
