The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Historic Space, a Live Fire Kitchen

Briquette occupies the former Rodd Brothers Molasses Refinery in New Orleans' Warehouse District, a building that dates to the 1800s. The industrial bones remain — high ceilings, open sightlines — but the interior has been shaped into something warm and social: an open floor plan anchored by a large bar, community tables that encourage conversation, and an open kitchen where the cooking is very much part of the atmosphere. The dress code is smart casual, and the room feels like it means it.

The restaurant's defining feature is an 18-foot seafood display, kept stocked with whole fish — Bronzino, halibut, Faroe Island Salmon, Louisiana Redfish, and more depending on the season. Those fish are cooked over red-hot briquettes finished in flavored oil, a technique that gives the restaurant its name and its character.

Coastal Contemporary Meets Creole Tradition

The menu sits at the intersection of Creole cooking and coastal contemporary cuisine — a natural fit for a city that has always looked to the Gulf. Signature plates include Snapper Pontchartrain, Louisiana Redfish on the Half Shell, and a Prime 14oz Ribeye for those who prefer land to sea. The Creole influence runs through the preparations without overwhelming them, letting the quality of the fish speak first.

Wine Spectator recognized Briquette with its Award of Excellence, a reflection of the restaurant's commitment to an extensive, well-curated wine list that complements the seafood-forward menu. The cocktail program is equally considered — beautifully crafted drinks that hold their own alongside the food, with a daily happy hour from 5 to 6pm.

Events, Community, and Anna Tusa

Beyond dinner service, Briquette has built a lively events calendar. Weekly cocktail experiences run under the "Shaken Up NOLA With a Twist" banner, and a Saturday Bubbles and Bourbon Brunch draws its own following. Much of the cocktail culture at Briquette is shaped by Anna Tusa, whose "Drinks With Anna" series — exploring seasonal ingredients, craft spirits, and New Orleans drinking traditions — reflects the restaurant's genuine enthusiasm for the glass as much as the plate.

The space is also well set up for private events and parties, with A/C power outlets at tables and complimentary Wi-Fi available throughout.

Consistently ranked among the top seafood restaurants in New Orleans, Briquette delivers Creole-inflected coastal cooking in a setting that feels rooted in the city's history without being frozen in it.
