Perched on the glittering shores of Fort Pond, Mavericks Montauk frames its food in one of the most striking natural settings on the East End. The restaurant describes itself as "a surf-and-turf reboot, with sunsets on the side" — and that self-awareness runs through everything on the plate.

The Ethos

Ingredients are king here. Seafood is caught right off shore, vegetables come from farms guests drive past on the way in, and beef is sustainably sourced within New York State. The entire menu reads as a celebration of what New York produces — from the Hudson Valley to the twin forks of Long Island — with farmers, baymen, commercial fishermen, cheesemakers, beekeepers, and foragers named as the driving force behind both the food and beverage programs.

The Kitchen and the Cellar

Executive Chef Jeremy Blutstein brings fifteen years of East End and New York City kitchen experience, with stints at Crow's Nest, The Surf Lodge, and Showfish at Gurney's Star Island. His personal ties to local farming and fishing communities shape a menu where large-format proteins take center stage: a Southampton Maitake Mushroom Steak sits alongside Whole Montauk Black Sea Bass and the classic Porterhouse. Contemporary takes on timeless classics, always anchored by the best the region offers.

The wine program is equally considered. Managing Partner Vanessa Price — sommelier, bestselling author of Big Macs & Burgundy, and resident sommelier for NBC's Today show — has built a list that earned Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence in 2024. Large-format bottlings, rosés from around the world, and a substantial section devoted to New York wines reflect her inclusive, expert hand.
