The story
Queen Miami Beach occupies the Paris Theater, a 1945 Art Deco building on Washington Avenue designed by architect Henry Hohauser. The theater sat at the center of South Beach's cultural life from the Frank Sinatra era through the 1980s, and its restoration preserves that layered history while giving it a thoroughly 21st-century identity. The arrival hall greets guests with Lobmeyr chandeliers — the original 1963 design by Hans Harald Rath, crafted in brass, hand-cut crystal, and Swarovski crystal. From there, intricate terrazzo mosaic floors with brass accents lead through a curving corridor to the lobby bar, past Gonzalo Fuenmayor's Carmen Miranda-inspired mural "The Parade of Carmens." The dining room opens to 26-foot ceilings, plush velvet banquettes, and an oversized gold gong mirror at its center.
The venue is the work of Mathieu Massa, founder of Mr. Hospitality and head of Massa Investment Group, who has been reshaping Miami's dining and nightlife landscape since 2007 through properties including Marion Miami, Lafayette Steakhouse, and El Tucán.
The kitchen's approach is modern Japanese cuisine, with the Josper Charcoal Oven and Robata Flame Grill as its primary tools — both chosen for the smoky depth they bring to meats, seafood, and vegetables. The menu spans raw and marinated preparations, dim sum, sushi, moriawase, maki, and a dedicated Wagyu section sourced from Japan's family farms. Snacks like caviar crispy rice with crème fraîche and chive, tuna pizzetta with serrano pepper and truffle aioli, and seabass tempura with nori and chili tofu signal the kitchen's range. The raw bar runs from bluefin tartare donburi with truffle rice and wasabi ponzu to smoked o'toro with lemongrass and coconut fish sauce.
For the full experience, the Queen Tasting Experience offers a chef-curated progression of seasonal dishes — available in Signature, Premium, and Royale tiers — served only as a table selection for a minimum of two guests.
Wine Spectator recognized Queen Miami Beach with its Best of Award of Excellence in 2024, a reflection of a wine program that balances celebrated producers with artisanal growers selected for their terroir-driven quality. The bar program takes a similarly considered approach, pairing contemporary techniques with inventive flavor combinations while keeping classic cocktail structures intact.
The Salon Lounge — with its curved Art Deco brass slat passage, Calacatta Viola marble bar, and Swarovski crystal chandeliers — functions as a destination in its own right, whether for a pre-dinner aperitif or a late-night digestif. Weekly programming, including Queen Wednesdays, extends the evening well beyond dinner.
