Carbone arrived on Collins Avenue carrying the full weight of its New York reputation — and then some. The Miami Beach outpost of Major Food Group, founded by Chef Mario Carbone, Jeff Zalaznick, and Chef Rich Torrisi, delivers the same Italian-American cuisine that made the original a near-impossible reservation, now set against a backdrop that feels entirely its own.

The Room

Designer Ken Fulk built an interior that earns every superlative thrown at it. A decadent palette of terracotta, cream, and rich emerald green plays across Malachite ceiling beams and columns, damask-upholstered walls, and leather banquettes. Murano sconces and chandeliers cast soft, glimmering light across the bar and dining room, while Fulk's hand-drawn wallpaper lines the bathrooms. Service captains in burgundy tuxedos complete the picture — theatrical without being self-conscious, and electric every night of the week.

The Patio

Beyond the dining room, a lush outdoor patio seats up to 50 guests and stands as one of the more atmospheric al fresco options in the city. Rattan ceiling fans, eclectic furniture, and dense greenery nod to Havana, giving the space a distinctly Miami character that softens the grandeur of the interior without losing any of its elegance.

The Menu

The Italian-American menu is built on classics executed with exceptional ingredients and fine-dining technique. Caesar Salad alla ZZ, Carpaccio Piemontese, Baked Clams, and Veal Parmesan are among the signatures — familiar touchstones pushed toward something more refined. Wine Spectator recognized the program with its Best of Award of Excellence, a fitting nod to a list serious enough to warrant a $95-per-bottle corkage policy for guests who bring their own.
