Uncle Yu's at the Vineyard has been a cornerstone of downtown Livermore since 2006, a family-owned and locally operated restaurant that has built its reputation one carefully sourced plate at a time. The premise is straightforward but executed with real conviction: traditional Asian recipes modernized in presentation while preserving their original flavor profiles, served alongside one of the most serious wine programs in the East Bay.

That wine program earned the restaurant a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence — recognition that reflects the depth and curation behind a list of approximately 600 bottles and around 50 wines by the glass. Sommelier Nick Liang has developed a loyal following for his distinctive pairings, particularly his affinity for champagne alongside Chinese flavors. As Diablo Magazine put it simply: "Wine and Chinese food marry happily in Livermore."

The Food Philosophy

The kitchen's commitment to quality ingredients is explicit and consistent. The team sources organic produce, all-natural or organic meats, and wild-caught seafood wherever possible. Snake River Farms Wagyu beef — American Kobe from the premier domestic producer, known for sustainable and locally resourced farming — appears on the menu as a marker of that standard.

The goal, in the restaurant's own words, is to bring traditional recipes forward into a modernized presentation without sacrificing the integrity of their original flavor. The result is Asian cuisine that feels both rooted and alive.

The Space

The dining room is complemented by a lively lounge and bar, a beautiful outdoor patio, and the Harvest Room — a private space that seats up to 45 guests, well suited for receptions, birthdays, and holiday gatherings. The Livermore wine country setting gives the whole experience a sense of occasion without pretension.
