The story
Bluecoast Seafood Grill + Raw Bar is part of SoDel Concepts, the Delaware restaurant group behind the original Bluecoast in Bethany Beach. The Rehoboth location follows the same guiding principle: fresh, beautiful local seafood prepared in simple ways to let the flavors of Southern Delaware speak for themselves. It's a philosophy that earns the "local fish house with a sophisticated edge" description the restaurant gives itself — unpretentious at its core, but with real attention to craft.
The space offers distinct interior dining areas alongside a spacious outdoor patio with a fire pit, an outside bar, and a small acoustic stage that hosts live entertainment through the summer months. The raw bar is a centerpiece, stocked with a rotating fresh selection of oysters. The menu is anchored in local seafood and local produce, rounded out with butcher block options for those who prefer something from the land. Happy hour runs daily, and the kitchen serves lunch and dinner seven days a week, year-round — a commitment that sets it apart from seasonal beach destinations.
The wine list was shaped by SoDel Concepts wine director Amber Willis, mirroring the depth of the Bethany flagship with carefully selected additions. That program has earned the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence consecutively since 2018 — recognition that reflects genuine curatorial effort rather than a token list. During the off-season, the restaurant hosts wine dinners in its Library space, with Executive Chef Zach designing multi-course menus to match featured producers. General Manager Michael Klabe leads a management team that includes sous chefs Marvin Ramirez and Jacob Cunningham.
Bluecoast works equally well for families, groups, and solo diners stopping in for happy hour. The American seafood focus, the craft beer selection on draft and in bottles, the outdoor fire pit, and the live music calendar give it a range that few single-concept restaurants manage. Whether you're after a plate of oysters and a glass of wine or a full dinner with the table, the kitchen keeps things grounded in what the Delaware coast does best.
