From Butcher Shop to Premier Steakhouse

The story of Perry's Steakhouse & Grille begins in 1979, when Bob Perry opened a modest meat market in Houston. It was a neighborhood butcher shop — straightforward, quality-focused, and quietly beloved. In 1986, Bob's son Chris Perry joined the business and persuaded his father to add dining tables, a decision that changed the trajectory of the family name entirely. The warm reception from loyal customers inspired Chris to take the next step, and in 1993 Perry's Steakhouse & Grille was born.

What started as a single concept rooted in butcher shop values has since grown into one of the country's most recognized steakhouse groups, with locations across Texas and in cities including Chicago, Denver, Miami, Nashville, and beyond. The Baybrook location, situated at 700 Baybrook Mall Drive in the League City area, carries that same founding ethos: top-quality selection and attentive, focused service.

The Steakhouse Experience

Perry's Steakhouse is built around USDA Prime beef and a commitment to what the restaurant calls a Rare and Well Done® experience. The tableside carving of the Famous Pork Chop has become something of a signature ritual — a moment of theater that reflects the brand's butcher shop origins as much as its fine dining ambitions. The bar program, anchored by Perry's Bar 79, rounds out the evening with handcrafted cocktails, craft beer, and a portfolio of Reserve Wines.

That wine program earned the Baybrook location a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence — recognition that speaks to the depth and curation of the cellar, and a credential that serious wine diners will appreciate.
