The story
In the heart of Woodinville Wine Country, Heritage Restaurant | Bar is a locally owned, full-service establishment with a clear sense of purpose: be the easy, down-to-earth gathering place where residents feel at home and visitors feel like locals. Chef and owner Breanna Beike built it that way deliberately — approachable food, moderately priced drinks, and a come-as-you-are atmosphere that works equally well for a date night, a family dinner, or a post-winery stop.
Breanna Beike grew up in the Midwest, trained at culinary school in the Chicago area, and rose to Executive Chef in high-volume Chicago kitchens while still in her 20s. She moved to Seattle in 2013 to lead the kitchen at the Seattle Yacht Club, then relocated to Woodinville with her husband and business partner Chris Brende. Heritage opened in April 2018 and quickly earned recognition from 425 Magazine for both Best Chef and Best Restaurant. The restaurant's wine program earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence — fitting for a spot planted squarely in Washington wine country. In 2022, Chef Bre and her team expanded with Tarte by Heritage, a scratch bake shop next door featuring classic breads, pastries, and a locally influenced mercantile.
Sous-Chef Graeme Paulsen, who worked alongside Chef Bre at the Seattle Yacht Club before joining Heritage in 2019, rounds out the culinary core. Chris Brende collaborates with the bar team on seasonal, fresh cocktails — the kind of program that earned outside recognition and keeps the wine list genuinely interesting.
Chef Beike describes her philosophy simply: "simple, delicious food." The Pacific Northwestern pantry runs throughout the menu — Hama Hama oysters with fennel-shallot mignonette, Dungeness crab hushpuppies with lemon-dill crème fraîche, and spicy steamed Manila clams in tomato broth with chorizo. Mains range from a braised Oregon lamb shoulder with ricotta gnocchi to a grilled bone-in tomahawk pork chop with delicata squash, and a rotating coastal catch plated over wild mushroom risotto. The Heritage Burger — an 8 oz custom chuck patty with horseradish mayo on a house butter roll — comes up repeatedly in guest reviews as a standout.
The wine list is a genuine strength, leaning into Washington and Oregon producers alongside a well-chosen international selection. By-the-glass pours include bottles from Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley, and Willamette Valley, while the full bottle list reaches into Burgundy, Barolo, and Champagne. Handcrafted cocktails — from a Sage Advice with gin, elderflower, and absinthe rinse to a Spicy Margarita with jalapeño-infused tequila — are made in-house with seasonal ingredients, and a zero-proof section means everyone at the table is looked after.
Heritage also operates as a genuine community anchor: weekend brunch, family meals, private parties with custom menus by Chef Bre, full catering services, and a loyalty program for regulars. The Hollywood Hill roundabout location in vibrant Woodinville makes it a natural stop for wine tourists and a reliable neighborhood fixture for everyone else.
