The story
At Harbourside Place on the Jupiter waterfront, The Jupiter Grill takes a modern approach to the coastal steakhouse — prime cuts, fresh seafood, and a wine program that earned the restaurant a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2024. It is the kind of place where the setting feels relaxed and the cooking does not.
The restaurant's executive chef is Paul Niedermann, a figure with a résumé that commands attention. He inherited his passion for cooking from his own Executive Chef father, trained at Johnson & Wales University in North Miami, and worked his way through the kitchens of the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables and the St. Regis before winning Hell's Kitchen Season 9 in 2012 — an achievement that landed him the Head Chef position at BLT Steak in New York City. He later led BLT Steak in Los Angeles and BLT Prime in Doral, Florida. Chef Paul's philosophy is deliberately unshowy: let the seasons and the ingredients carry the dish, and make sure no guest leaves hungry.
Alongside him is Chef de Cuisine AJ Kraft, who brings 25 years of experience across Florida's dining scene — from fine-dining rooms in Winter Park and Orlando to a restaurant he owned in Clermont, where he cooked southern, Italian, and classic French food. That French sensibility surfaces quietly in the Jupiter Grill's menu, which leans on technique without announcing it. The front of house is anchored by General Manager and Sommelier Tim Eagan, whose stewardship of the wine list is reflected in the recognition from Wine Spectator.
Founder and CEO Dave Magrogan rounds out the leadership team, giving the restaurant a clear ownership identity rather than the anonymity of a hospitality group.
The menu reads as a confident steakhouse — but one with range. From the butcher block, an 8oz filet and a 16oz Cajun Delmonico ribeye anchor the protein side, with enhancements like lobster tail, jumbo lump crab Oscar, béarnaise, or au poivre sauce available to build the plate. The braised short rib over wild mushroom risotto with horseradish gremolata and the wagyu beef meatloaf with smoked Gouda and truffle gravy show the kitchen's willingness to go beyond the grill.
Seafood holds its own: pan-roasted halibut with sautéed spinach and lemon butter jus, pan-seared scallops over smoky sweet corn risotto, lump crab cakes with shaved asparagus and truffle, and a raw bar anchored by The Jupiter Tower — Maine lobster, shrimp cocktail, East Coast oysters, and jumbo lump crab served with sherry mignonette. The classic French touch reappears in the lobster ravioli with champagne garlic blush sauce, the lobster bisque, and a vanilla bean crème brûlée on the dessert side.
The space at Harbourside Place offers outdoor seating alongside the elegant interior, with valet parking next door and boat slip access for those arriving by water. Live music runs Wednesday through Friday from 4 to 7pm, and Sinatra Sundays bring live performance from 6 to 8pm — a detail that says something about the room's sensibility. Happy hour runs daily from 3 to 6pm at both the bar and the outside bar, with a cocktail list that spans Florida-inspired originals and well-executed classics. Private events and takeaway are both accommodated.
