The story
Since 1979, Fogo de Chão has kept the art of churrasco alive — and the Irving location carries that same flame. The founding brothers grew up on a traditional Southern Brazilian farm in the Serra Gaúcha, where they learned to cook over open fire in the churrasco tradition. After formal churrasqueiro training in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, they brought their family's culinary legacy first to Porto Alegre, then to São Paulo, and eventually to the United States, with a stateside debut in Dallas, Texas. Irving is part of that continuing story.
The heart of any visit is the full churrasco service: fire-roasted cuts carved tableside, including Picanha (prime top sirloin), Fraldinha (bottom sirloin), Costela, and Wagyu New York Strip, among others. Alongside the meat service, the freshly curated Market Table offers seasonal produce, salads, and authentic Brazilian sides — a vibrant counterpoint to the richness of the cuts. The Brazilian steakhouse format means the meal moves at your pace, with the kitchen keeping the fire ready throughout.
Bar Fogo extends the experience beyond the dining room, offering Brazilian-inspired small plates and cocktails — including the Caipirinha, Brazil's national drink. The wine program earned Fogo de Chão a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2024, recognition that reflects a genuinely considered list. The house Founders Tribute Wine Collection pairs directly with the menu: the Jorjão Reserva Malbec alongside Picanha, the O'Leão Red Blend with Fraldinha, and The Sonhadores Cabernet Sauvignon with Filet Mignon or Wagyu cuts.
The Irving location accommodates large groups, private parties, and catered events, making it a practical choice for corporate dinners or celebrations that call for something more substantial than a standard restaurant. To-go and delivery options are also available for those who want the Brazilian steakhouse experience at home.
