Kiran's has earned its place among Houston's most distinguished dining destinations, bringing a refined approach to Indian cuisine that caught the attention of Wine Spectator, which recognized the restaurant with its Best of Award of Excellence — a testament to the depth and care of its wine program alongside the kitchen's ambitions.

Located on Richmond Avenue, Kiran's offers something relatively rare: Indian food taken seriously at every level, from the sourcing and preparation to the pairing of wine and spirits. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner through the week, and on Fridays and Saturdays adds an Afternoon Tea service — a nod to the traditions of the Indian Raj that clearly inform the restaurant's aesthetic sensibility as much as its menu.

Rooms That Set the Scene

The private dining spaces at Kiran's are worth knowing about. Each room features mother-of-pearl inlay and West African Afrormosia wood throughout, giving the interiors a warmth and craftsmanship that feels considered rather than decorative.

The Main Dining Room accommodates up to 75 guests and houses an original installation by Dallas artist Lucrecia Waggoner. The Maharaja Room, seating 40, is defined by its opulent chandeliers and includes A/V capabilities and patio access. The more intimate Polo Room seats up to 24 and is adorned with polo-themed paintings styled after the Indian Raj — the coziest of the three, and equally well-equipped for presentations or private gatherings. All rooms can be used separately or combined for larger events.

Few restaurants in Texas approach Indian cuisine with this level of intention — in the room, in the glass, and on the plate. Kiran's makes a compelling case that Houston belongs in that conversation.
