Ride a private elevator to the 15th floor of Disney's Contemporary Resort and step into one of the most distinctive dining rooms in the Orlando area. From up here, the views stretch across Seven Seas Lagoon, Floridian woodland, and Cinderella Castle — a backdrop that few restaurants anywhere can match. The room itself hums with energy, anchored by a lively onstage kitchen where the work of the chef de cuisine is very much part of the show.

California on the Menu

The cooking philosophy is rooted in Californian cuisine: fresh, seasonal ingredients shaped by the international melting-pot culture of the Golden State. The chef de cuisine blends flavors, textures, and techniques from across the globe, presenting them through a structured three-course selection menu — one appetizer, one entrée, one dessert. Highlights mentioned on the restaurant's own pages include sushi rolls such as the Surf & Turf Roll, premium caviar, and a Grilled Pork Tenderloin as a featured entrée. The format is prix fixe, priced at $99 per adult, keeping the experience focused and unhurried.

The Wine Program

California Grill earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2025, recognition that reflects the depth of a list drawn predominantly from California producers. Sommeliers work the floor and are available for pairing suggestions; curated three-course wine pairings can also be arranged in advance. It is a program that takes the Californian cuisine on the plate seriously enough to match it glass for glass.

Fireworks, Atmosphere, and a Few Details Worth Knowing

On nights when Magic Kingdom's fireworks display runs, the restaurant dims its lights and pipes in the accompanying music — the entire room briefly becomes part of the spectacle. It is the kind of moment that earns California Grill its reputation as one of the better fireworks dining experiences at Walt Disney World.

The dress code is upscale: clean, neat, no swimwear. Advance reservations are strongly recommended, and a cancellation policy applies. Check-in is handled through the My Disney Experience app on the second floor of the resort, after which a Cast Member escorts guests to the 15th floor by a dedicated elevator.
