A Long Island Steakhouse Built for the Senses

Opus Steakhouse occupies a reimagined North Shore mansion on Old Jericho Turnpike, and the space makes an immediate impression: 25-foot cathedral ceilings, panoramic glass-wall vistas opening onto lush gardens and terraces, and an open-concept kitchen that puts the craft on full display. The atmosphere is dramatic without being stiff — business casual is the expected dress, and the room rewards it.

Prime Cuts and Ocean-Fresh Seafood

The menu is built around USDA Prime 45-day dry-aged steaks and chops prepared in that open kitchen. The Classic Porterhouse for Two, Bone-In Ribeye, and Filet Mignon anchor the steakhouse side, while Wagyu options — Picanha and Terrace Major — add range. A Frenched Long Bone Veal Chop Milanese and a Butcher Block Pork Chop with cherry peppers round out the chops section.

The seafood program is equally serious. Whole fish — Red Snapper, Branzino, and others — arrive at 700 grams, imported fresh daily from waters around the world, grilled over charcoal and finished tableside with extra virgin olive oil and capers. Chilean Sea Bass and a full raw bar with seafood plateaus, lobster cocktail, and both East and West Coast oysters extend the offering further. Opus is also certified by the Official Kobe Beef Association, a distinction that underscores the kitchen's commitment to sourcing.

The sushi bar adds another dimension entirely, running from classic rolls through luxury options like the Opus Surf & Turf — Maine lobster, asparagus, and avocado topped with seared wagyu — and the gold-leaf Fantastic roll with toro caviar.

A Wine List Worth the Recognition

Wine Spectator awarded Opus its Best of Award of Excellence in 2023, and the list earns it: over 600 selections, 40 available by the glass, maintained through a cruvinet system and guided by an in-house sommelier. Sixteen draft beers and a full cocktail program complement the bottle list, while the pastry team closes the meal with house-made desserts.
