The story
Fahrenheit 132° sits on William Street in Historic Downtown Fredericksburg, and it was built the hard way. Owners Cole and Kristina Berlin spent years working multiple restaurant jobs simultaneously — Cole managing high-profile rooms like BOA Steakhouse in West Hollywood and Wolfgang Puck's Spago at Caesars Palace, Kristina rising to General Manager across Virginia and Washington, DC — before they had saved enough to open their own place. That backstory matters, because it shows in how the restaurant is run: with the discipline of people who have seen what great hospitality actually requires.
The approach is deliberate and straightforward. Fahrenheit 132° keeps its menu intentionally small, focused on ingredients sourced in Virginia first, with proteins from Certified Angus Beef born in Virginia and neighboring states. The menu changes seasonally — sometimes as often as daily — to follow what's freshest. Less waste, tighter execution, savings passed back to guests. It's fine American dining without the inflated overhead that usually comes with it.
Executive Chef Mark Manjarrez, a longtime Downtown Fredericksburg resident, brings that same precision to the kitchen. He joined Fahrenheit 132° in 2020 after years in fine dining and event catering, and now shapes a menu that moves between the familiar and the unexpected: a 30-day dry-aged ribeye finished on an 1800-degree broiler, a bison short rib rubbed with coffee and Szechuan pepper, dry-aged duck breast with strawberry and rhubarb gastrique, and a caviar cone built from white sturgeon and fried wonton. Starters like bone marrow boated escargot and elk tartare with pickled mustard seed and green peppercorn aioli signal that this is not a menu playing it safe.
Cole Berlin is a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers, and the wine program reflects that credential. Wine Spectator has recognized Fahrenheit 132° with its Best of Award of Excellence consecutively for nearly a decade — a consistent mark of a list that goes well beyond the expected.
The cocktail program holds its own alongside it. The bar team uses smoke, fresh herbs, dehydrators, and house infusions to build drinks with genuine intention — a Smoked Boulevardier finished with maple smoke, a Fahrenheit Infusion built on grilled and smoked pineapple-infused vodka, a Tawny Port Old Fashioned anchored by Basil Hayden 8-year bourbon. Happy hour runs daily at the bar, with half-priced specialty cocktails and heavily discounted wine by the glass from 4:00 to 6:30 PM.
The space is elegant but approachable — a full-service bar with nearly 30 seats, a dining room suited to private parties and special occasions, and outdoor seating for when the weather cooperates. The team's stated belief is that "the difference is in the details," and the consistency of the recognition they've earned suggests that's more than a motto.
