The story
What is now one of the country's most recognized steakhouse groups started in 1979 as a modest Houston meat market. Bob Perry opened Perry's Butcher Shop with a straightforward promise: the finest selections and outstanding customer service. By 1986, his son Chris Perry had persuaded him to add dining tables, and the neighborhood responded warmly. That success gave Chris the confidence to launch Perry's Steakhouse & Grille in 1993 — a concept that has since grown into a network of locations spanning Texas, the Midwest, the South, and beyond.
The Franklin location, listed under the Nashville – Cool Springs banner, carries that same lineage into Middle Tennessee.
Perry's Steakhouse & Grille describes its approach as a Rare and Well Done® experience — a phrase that captures both the quality of the USDA Prime beef and the attentiveness of the service. The dining room signature most closely tied to the brand's butcher-shop DNA is the tableside carving of the Famous Pork Chop, a theatrical and generous presentation that regulars return for specifically.
Beyond the steakhouse centerpiece, the menu extends to seafood, handcrafted cocktails, and a portfolio of Reserve Wines that earned the restaurant a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence — a recognition that reflects the seriousness with which Perry's approaches its cellar and wine pairing program. For guests who prefer a more casual start or finish, Perry's Bar 79 offers bar bites, cocktails, wine, and craft beer in a convivial setting.
The Franklin steakhouse is well set up for groups. Private events and catering are core offerings, making it a practical choice for corporate dinners, celebrations, or any occasion that calls for a dedicated space and attentive staff. Outdoor seating rounds out the options for guests who want a different atmosphere.
Four decades of operating under the Perry name means the Franklin location benefits from systems, supplier relationships, and a service culture refined over a long time. The commitment Perry's describes — "providing you with the finest selections and outstanding customer service" — is not a recent marketing position; it is the founding principle that turned a neighborhood butcher shop into one of America's well-regarded steakhouse brands.
