The story
That's the house motto at Anthony's Runway 84, and the menu backs it up. Situated on West State Road 84 in Fort Lauderdale, this Italian restaurant has built a reputation as the kind of place where a weeknight out feels like an occasion — dress code enforced (business casual, no shorts), live music running most evenings, and a dining room that can host an intimate party of sixteen or fill out to 120 for a full buyout.
The menu reads like a love letter to the Italian-American canon, executed without shortcuts. Appetizers span baked clams oreganata, octopus Sicilian style, housemade mozzarella with Prosciutto di Parma, and a wagyu beef carpaccio finished with black truffle and pistachio. The pasta section leans into the classics — linguine and clams, lasagna Napolitan, a Mafaldine cacio e pepe shaved with black truffles — alongside a "Sunday Feast" of meatball, sausage, braciole, pork rib, rigatoni, San Marzano Sunday sauce, and a scoop of ricotta that reads less like a dish and more like a family gathering.
Seafood runs from local snapper (available Francese, Oreganata, or Runway Style) to a whole branzino for two with Meyer lemon caper sauce and a Zuppa di Pesce Fra Diavolo loaded with lobster, shrimp, clams, mussels, calamari, and linguine. The steakhouse side of the menu is equally serious: USDA Prime throughout, with a 40oz 60-day dry-aged porterhouse for two and a veal chop "Danielle" in spicy vodka sauce with mozzarella, prosciutto, and peas among the standouts.
Wine Spectator recognized Anthony's Runway 84 with its Award of Excellence in 2025 — a distinction that reflects the depth of a list curated to match this style of Italian cooking. The cocktail program carries the aviation theme of the address through every name on the menu: "Now Boarding," "Fasten Your Seatbelt," "Wheels Up," and the reserve "Mile High Club," a Macallan Rare Cask preparation French-pressed tableside.
Dessert closes the loop on the Italian theme: Nonna's Ricotta Cheesecake ("just the way Anthony's grandmother made it"), a classic giant cannoli billed as "Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli," and a proper tiramisu. Live music begins as early as 7 PM Tuesday through Sunday, and the bar stays open past the kitchen. For private events, the main dining room and a dedicated private room are both available through the events team.
