The story
Salt & Iron sits on Main Street in Downtown Edmonds, along the Fourth Avenue Arts Corridor, a short walk from the Kingston Ferry and the Edmonds Farmer's Market. The location is deliberate: this is a neighborhood restaurant that takes its surroundings seriously, sourcing fresh oysters from Taylor Shellfish and building a menu around the Pacific Northwest's best seafood and beef.
Wine Spectator recognized the program with its Award of Excellence in 2022 — a nod to a drinks list that pairs thoughtfully with the kitchen's range, from delicate shellfish to fire-kissed prime cuts.
The American menu moves confidently across land and sea. Oysters on the Half Shell anchor the raw bar, with a rotating daily selection. The S&I Seafood Chowder — halibut, salmon, scallops, clams, and octopus in a creamy broth — is a reliable opener, and the Steak Tartare (filet mignon, shallots, mustard, egg yolk, cornichon, beef tallow crostini) shows the kitchen's precision on the cold side.
For larger plates, the steakhouse instinct comes through in a 16oz Prime Boneless Ribeye and a 12oz Prime New York Strip, both available as Steak Frites or Surf & Turf with lemongrass pesto shrimp. The Seafood Pot — clams, mussels, prawn, chorizo, and fennel bouillabaisse — leans hard into PNW tradition. Dungeness Crab Cakes with tarragon aioli and Spanish Octopus with cajun aioli and fingerling potatoes round out the small plates.
Weekend brunch extends the range: Eggs Benedicts arrive in several forms (including a 5oz filet mignon version and Dungeness crab cakes), house pastries like Cinnamon Buns with lemon cream cheese frosting, and a Fully Loaded Bloody Mary made with house-made demi-glace.
The full bar pours craft cocktails — including the house Salty Dog (vodka, Cynar, grapefruit, Campari salt) and the Pineapple Express with jalapeño-infused tequila — alongside local wines and draft beers. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday, and the "Shuck Yeah" movie-night deal (a dozen Pacific oysters and two drinks for $38 with a same-day Edmonds Theater ticket) captures the easy, community-minded spirit of the place.
Salt & Iron is part of the Feedme Hospitality & Restaurant Group, which operates several concepts in the region, but the Edmonds location has its own identity: relaxed but considered, seafood-forward, and genuinely rooted in where it stands.
