The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Denver's Most Intimate Fine Dining Experience

Beckon opened in 2018 as Denver's first dedicated chef's counter restaurant, and it remains unlike anything else in the city. Set inside a converted bungalow in the RiNo neighborhood, the dining room holds just 18 seats — every one of them facing an open kitchen. Cooking, plating, and service all unfold in full view, collapsing the distance between the people preparing the meal and the people eating it.

The People Behind the Counter

The restaurant is led by Executive Chef Duncan Holmes, a James Beard Award semifinalist, and Allison Holmes, whose focus is hospitality and the overall guest experience. Their approach treats cooking and service as inseparable — precise but not cold, intentional without feeling rehearsed. That philosophy has earned Beckon a MICHELIN star, recognition from World's 50 Best Discovery, and a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2024 — a rare combination that speaks to the consistency of both kitchen and cellar.

The broader team includes a Sous Chef, Pastry Chef, Service Director, Bar Director, a dedicated Cocktail & Zero Proof program lead, and even a Farm Manager — a detail that says something about how seriously ingredients are taken here.

A Menu That Follows the Seasons

The multi-course New American tasting menu evolves quarterly, shaped by Colorado's seasonal rhythms and, unusually, the lunar calendar. Ingredients are chosen at their peak and treated with restraint — balance, texture, and natural flavor doing the work rather than elaborate technique. Signature, vegetarian, and pescatarian menus are all available, each changing regularly enough that no two visits are quite the same.

The beverage program matches the kitchen's ambition. The wine list — recognized by Wine Spectator — spans Champagne growers, Sancerre, aged Rioja, Willamette Valley Chardonnay, and a custom Pinot Noir bottled specifically for Beckon. Cocktails are thoughtfully named and composed, and a serious zero-proof selection ensures every guest is looked after equally.

What to Expect

An evening at Beckon is paced deliberately. The boundary between kitchen and dining room dissolves as the menu progresses course by course, and the format encourages a kind of attention that larger restaurants rarely allow. It is fine dining in the most literal sense — careful, considered New American cooking in a room small enough that nothing goes unnoticed.
