The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

A Parisian Bistro in the Heart of Dallas

Mercat Bistro brings contemporary French cuisine to Dallas's Harwood District, occupying a chic space at 2501 N. Harwood Street that draws guests from early morning espresso through late-evening dinner. The restaurant has earned consecutive recommendations in the 2024 and 2025 Michelin Guide — a distinction that reflects its consistent commitment to French technique, thoughtful sourcing, and considered hospitality. Wine Spectator recognized the cellar with its Award of Excellence in 2023, a natural complement to a list built around French varietals.

From Croissant to Tasting Menu

The kitchen runs from 7 AM through late evening, and the menu shifts with the clock in a way that feels genuinely French. Breakfast — Petit Déjeuner — centers on house-made pastries: plain and almond croissants, pain au chocolat, kouign amann, and a rotating daily cookie. Savory morning options include a Croque Monsieur on country sourdough with sauce mornay and gruyère, a Quiche Lorraine with bacon lardons and caramelized onion, and Pain Perdu with crème anglaise and fresh berries.

Lunch (Le Déjeuner) leans into classic bistro territory: Moules Frites in a white wine broth, Striped Bass Meunière with brown butter and crisp capers, Salad Niçoise with grilled tuna and white anchovies, and an Onion Soup Gratinée that earns its place on any serious French menu. The kitchen uses HWD Harwood Premium Beef — Texas Wagyu — throughout, and cooks exclusively with tallow rendered in-house, following a zero-waste whole-animal approach. No nut or seed oils are used.

The Michelin Tasting Menu

Monday through Thursday evenings, Mercat offers a five-course Michelin Tasting Menu at $150 per guest, with an optional sommelier wine pairing for an additional $40. The progression moves through Foie Gras Mousseline with cherry on a daily bread selection, Seared Scallops with artichoke barigoule and brown butter, Seared Duck Breast with crispy fingerling potatoes and apricot gastrique, HWD Texas Wagyu with pommes galette, black truffle, morel, and bordelaise, and closes with a Mille Feuille au Ciel — vanilla crème and citrus caramel. It is a focused, confident expression of French cuisine without unnecessary embellishment.

Weekend Brunch and Private Dining

Saturday and Sunday brunch brings its own energy, anchored by the signature Pêche Mignon — frozen fruits, orange juice, and sparkling wine — alongside buttery pastries and French-inspired plates. For private occasions, Mercat offers indoor and outdoor seating configurations, chef-curated menus, and both seated and reception-style formats, all within the Harwood District. Complimentary valet is available Wednesday through Sunday.
