The story

Crafted with passion, served with love

Fresh Pasta, Lake Views, and the Spirit of Italy in Colorado Springs

Ristorante del Lago sits on the lobby level of Broadmoor West, looking out across Cheyenne Lake — a setting that, on a clear evening, genuinely recalls the shores of Lake Como. The open kitchen hums with energy, the air carries the scent of wood-fired dough, and the atmosphere leans into the warmth that good Italian cooking tends to inspire.

A Pasta Kitchen Taken Seriously

At the heart of the restaurant is what the kitchen itself calls its "pasta headquarters," run by three dedicated chefs who specialize in the craft. The team travels regularly to Italy's finest culinary regions to bring back fresh ideas, and that commitment shows in a menu that moves between classic, comforting pasta dishes and a more refined Chef's Menu. Wood-fired pizza rounds out the Italian offerings, making this a place where the cuisine is treated with genuine respect rather than broad-strokes approximation.

The sourcing is specific and worth noting. Prosciutto di Parma comes from the Pio Tosini family business; Parmigiano-Reggiano Valserena is produced by the Serra family in Emilia Romagna; and the olive oil — described as lively and peppery — arrives from Castello di Ama. These are not decorative details. They shape what lands on the plate.

Among the dishes guests return to: the Pollo Arrosto, a half Green Circle Chicken slow-roasted over potatoes that collect the bird's juices as it cooks, and the homemade gelato to close. The bar opens at 4pm, making it a natural stop for an aperitivo before dinner.

Recognition and the Wine List

Wine Spectator awarded Ristorante del Lago its Award of Excellence in 2023 — fitting for a restaurant that pairs its Italian menu with what the kitchen describes as "a huge selection of Italian wines." For guests arriving at The Broadmoor, it offers a different register from the resort's more formal dining rooms: convivial, ingredient-focused, and rooted in the kind of Italian hospitality that doesn't require ceremony to feel special.

Breakfast is also served, with a casual dress code, while dinner calls for dressy resort attire — a reminder that this is still The Broadmoor, even when the mood is relaxed.
